Description
The waterfall of the tree with the swing is an original work created in watercolor, ink, and pencil on semi-rough paper (2026, Minusio, Switzerland). Maximum outer dimensions, including mat and frame, are 43 × 53 cm.
This large grayscale watercolor depicts a bare tree perched on the edge of a waterfall, suspended between strength and precariousness, while a small swing hangs from its branch, introducing an intimate and poetic detail. The mountains in the background, rendered with soft, blended watercolor washes, create an enveloping backdrop that frames the scene, while the rocks and the waterfall’s edge are defined by more incisive pencil strokes that accentuate the vertical lines and the sense of depth. The water flow is rendered with silver pigments that, depending on the light and viewing angle, release iridescent reflections, transforming the waterfall into a living surface that continuously changes appearance.
The controlled use of the white of the paper and the intermediate gray tones allows for the construction of a suspended, almost silent atmosphere, in which the only perceived movement is that of the cascading water and the droplets fragmenting at the base. The silvery reflections emphasize the luminous heart of the painting, guiding the eye from the cliff’s edge downward, while the bare tree and the small swing become symbols of memory, childhood, and resilience in the face of nature’s force. The large format, 43 × 53 cm, and the vertical composition make the work a centerpiece capable of dominating a wall, ideal for those seeking a dreamlike, monochromatic landscape with a contemporary touch provided by the metallic pigments that react to light in the environments where it is displayed.
