Description
The peacock in the village in Slavonia is an original work made in watercolor, ink and pencil on semi-rough paper (2026, Minusio, Switzerland). The maximum outer dimensions, with passepartout included and without frame, are 21 × 30 cm.
This luminous and decorative watercolor brings the figure of the peacock into the heart of a small village in Slavonia, Croatia, among houses with sloping roofs and rows of slender trees. In the foreground, the animal, turned slightly to the side, fully opens its tail forming a large fan of blue, turquoise and green feathers, enriched with golden eyespots and ink outlines that emphasize the graphic rhythm. The compact body, modeled in deep blues, dialogues with the meticulous drawing of the feathers, transforming the peacock into a true scenic protagonist that occupies almost the entire lower part of the sheet.
Behind it, a row of typical village houses, with red roofs and light facades, lines up along a curved road that leads the eye toward the back of the image, where tall cypresses and other green trees build a vertical backdrop against the azure sky. Small touches of color and hints of light on the windows and roofs suggest the discreet presence of inhabitants and give the painting a warm and somewhat fairy-tale atmosphere, as if the peacock were the special guest of a village square. The 21 × 30 cm format with passepartout makes the work versatile and easy to place, ideal for those who love Croatian landscapes, village memories and decorative animal subjects rich in details and reflections.
