Description
“Small Abstract Garden 14” is a small work on canvas board previously prepared by gluing a clipping from the local newspaper, combining watercolor, acrylic and ink to create an interior garden made of marks and suggestions rather than literal representations. On a compact rectangular format, 25 x 25 cm, soft and transparent color fields alternate with more substantial areas, where acrylic introduces different thicknesses and intensities, as if petals, leaves and landscape fragments emerged and dissolved in alternating rhythm. The forms are not described realistically but suggested: curves, spots, small nuclei of color, and ink marks build an abstract “garden” in which the eye is invited to find its own flowers and paths.
The subtle yet decisive ink work introduces a graphic texture that dialogues with the watercolor glazes and acrylic brushstrokes, creating contrasts between sharp lines and blurred transitions. This layering of techniques generates a rich interplay of textures: smoother surfaces and more tactile areas alternate, giving depth to the painting’s small dimensions and making it interesting even at close range. The result is a small contemporary garden, colorful and dynamic, designed as a visual accent capable of bringing a fragment of imaginary nature into any setting, whether alone or paired with other works from the same series.
