Description

Tree on the edge of the abyss, original watercolor on rough paper (2026, Minusio, Switzerland). Maximum external dimensions, including passe-partout and black frame, are 52 × 72 cm.

At the center of the composition, a solitary tree grows on the edge of a sheer rock face. The dark, slender trunk opens into a light canopy of thin branches and small green leaves, as if the plant had found life in one of the most exposed and difficult places.

Below it, the rock descends vertically, occupying much of the work. Watercolor drips and glazes transform the wall into a living surface, marked by time, water, and natural elements. Gray, brown, and earthy tones evoke the solidity of stone, while lighter areas suggest light diffusing into the void.

In the sky, birds cross the open space, accompanying the tree’s presence with a sense of movement and freedom. Their flight introduces a broader dimension, contrasting with the verticality of the wall and the apparent stillness of the rock.

The work speaks of resistance, balance, and tenacious life. The tree, rooted on the edge of the abyss, becomes a symbol of those who manage to grow even in difficult conditions, transforming precariousness into strength. Its suspended position suggests a tension between risk and stability, between the desire to rise and the depth of the void.

The rough paper enhances the transparencies, nuances, and drips of the watercolor, giving the rock surface a particularly tactile quality. Green touches in the canopy introduce an accent of hope and vitality within a scene dominated by mineral and atmospheric tones.

A symbolic and contemplative landscape, ideal for those who love nature, solitary trees, and works capable of evoking inner strength and resilience. The work is sold with a passe-partout and black frame, ready to be displayed.
