Description
Boats at Sunset in Ascona is an original work created in watercolor and ink on semi-rough paper (2026, Minusio, Switzerland). The maximum external dimensions, including the mat and without a frame, are 30 × 21 cm.
The work captures the quiet moment of the evening return to port on Lake Maggiore. The water’s surface, gently rippled, reflects the pink and golden tones of the sunset sky in a soft, enveloping light. A pier stretches toward the horizon, while colorful boats are moored waiting at its sides; the hulls, defined by sharp shadows and marked contrasts, convey the solidity of the forms against the lightness of the water.
At the end of the pier, a row of small flags fluttering in the wind adds a touch of movement and restrained celebration. In the background, dark mountains frame the scene, accentuating the contrast with the bright sky and drawing the eye to the reflections and silhouettes of the boats.
An intimate and cozy landscape, evoking the calm of the blue hour as the day ends and the lake prepares for the night. Work sold with a mat, unframed; ready to be framed.
