Description
Palm trees on the lake in Ascona is an original work created in watercolor and ink on semi-rough paper (2026, Minusio, Switzerland). The maximum external dimensions, including the mat and without a frame, are 21 × 30 cm.
The work captures the brightness of Lake Maggiore in front of the Ascona lakeside promenade, known for its almost Mediterranean character. The light blue sky is crossed by broad oblique brushstrokes suggesting moving clouds and filtered sunlight, softly diffused throughout the scene.
In the foreground, a group of slender palm trees with thin, flexible trunks defines the edge of the lake like a natural backdrop. The crowns, rendered with bold ink marks over watercolor glazes, set the rhythm of the landscape and guide the eye toward the horizon. In the background, the hills overlap in receding planes of increasingly lighter blue, while the water’s surface reflects small glimmers and tonal variations.
A bright, fresh, and peaceful landscape that evokes the elegant quiet of the Ascona lakeside promenade. Work sold with a mat, without a frame; ready to be framed.
